Our Legacy
Pool Transport was started as a family venture by Sarel and Hettie Pool in 1955. The enterprise, then known as ‘SN Pool Karweiers’, delivered general cargo in and around Worcester.
The personal dedicated service provided by SN Pool proved to be a highly successful recipe and in 1965 the company SN Pool (Pty) Ltd was formed, since trading as Pool Transport.
The family ties in the business continued, when first Ulrich Pool and then later, Helmut Pool joined the ranks to strengthen the personal family touch to the professional transport service being provided.

The focus at Pool Transport has shifted from a small, dedicated local fleet serving only the needs of the Worcester and Western Cape market, to a truly national transport and logistics company. Operating from our home base in Worcester, we also provide logistics and supply chain services to our customers, with warehousing facilities in Worcester, Johannesburg, and Queenstown.
We have strategic and sound relationships with our suppliers and therefore have a competitive procurement advantage. We provide different logistics solutions to our clients and further provide fully integrated warehousing and distribution services.
We successfully manage these operations through our infrastructure of 120 truck tractors (owned and managed), equipped with ‘super link’ flat deck trailers and ‘super link’ tautliner trailers. Since 2011, our fleet replacement policy has been brought in line with new technology available, such as ‘superlight link’ flat deck trailers, with a payload of 36,000 kg plus.
Therefore, 80% of our fleet has a total tare of ≤ 20,000 kg with an average balance of 21,000 kg. The average age of our truck tractors is managed with an engine and drivetrain replacement policy of 750,000 km, and trailers with a new technology replacement programme of ‘superlight link’ flat deck trailers.
We have also forged strategic relationships with various independent national transport operators to expand our logistics infrastructure even further. Therefore, our current dedicated fleet of Mercedes-Benz trucks can easily be expanded through our strategic partnerships to suit the ever-changing needs of our customers.
We at Pool Transport firmly believe that personal, dedicated service means exactly that. We therefore willingly adapt to the specific needs of our customers. We operate a fully independent warehouse in Worcester for PPC Cement. Worcester is strategically situated between the two factories at Piketberg and Riebeeck West, as well as the customers in the Overberg, Southern Cape and the Karoo.
Our transport, logistics, warehousing and administrative systems are fully integrated, which allows us to deliver the correct products on time from their consignment stock under our control in our warehouse to the customer according to their orders via the PPC head office.
Our warehousing facilities in Worcester and Johannesburg are utilised to fulfil the logistics and distribution needs of our clients both locally and abroad.
